“Digital Isolation” is an abstract photography project that offers an artistic reflection on the emotional and sensory disconnection caused by the omnipresence of digital devices in the real world. It highlights the paradox of modern connectivity. Despite being in constant contact with the virtual world, the individual is increasingly isolated from the physical environment. Urban scenes, particularly those of public transport (metro, train or tram), are used as a backdrop to highlight this isolation.
The images captured in these urban settings are deliberately devoid of human traces. The blurred lines and abstract shapes symbolise the physical world obscured by the bright screens. The slow shutter speed and camera movements serve to emphasise the way in which physical reality becomes blurred and indistinct in the face of digital immersion.
The project aims to provoke reflection on how technology affects human presence and relationships in the real world.
