"Melting Pot" is an abstract photography project that offers an artistic reflection on our rapidly changing society. The realities of war, migration or the coming together of different social classes, different racial and ethnic identities, cults, LGBTQI+ communities and much more define the contemporary palette. Drawing on theories of light and colour, this project captures the essence of these mixtures, with their harmonies and dissonances. Using a variety of techniques such as blending, soft focus and colour diffusion, the project reflects the complexity of contemporary society.
Colour is used as a metaphor for social dynamics. The compositions are inspired by the theories of light and colour of Isaac Newton, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Johannes Itten and Josef Albers. The resulting images are abstract compositions in which colours meet, merge or collide in a complex visual ballet. Layers of colour, plays of light, textures and reflections are used to create images where the identifiable is erased in favour of the felt.
